Querétaro’s weather features warm days and cool nights year-round, with average highs from the upper 60s to low 80s and lows from the mid 40s to upper 50s. Any rain usually occurs between April and November, when Querétaro may be affected by distant storms coming ashore on the Pacific coast and the Gulf of Mexico. Occasionally, rain can be briefly heavy, usually in the afternoons. The elevation of the city of Querétaro (about 5800 feet) in the Sierra Madre mountains keeps the air clean and prevents flooding. It’s a perfect temperate climate in the tropics. A jacket, sweater or shawl will keep you comfortable in the evenings. Deluxe Hotel Package clients might want to bring a casually dressy outfit for dinner in the hotel. Some of Querétaro's streets are cobbled and some sidewalks are in need of repair, so good walking shoes are advisable if you are at all unsteady or need ankle support. Otherwise, casual, comfortable clothes are fine. Although the deluxe hotels will do laundry for you, you may want to wash small items in your room, in which case you will find that in Queretaro's high-altitude dry air everything dries overnight. If your standard hotel does not have laundry service, there are laundries around town that will wash and dry your clothes for US$1.40 per kilo (2.2 lbs).
